Saguaro Harvest Weekend

Authentic Saguaro Fruit Harvest Weekend:

June 17 - 19, 2022

Don’t miss this exclusive experience: an authentic Saguaro Fruit Harvest Weekend, a series of culturally and geographically unique activities at the Sonoran Desert Inn, Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, and the Ajo Scenic Loop.

Guests will participate in an authentic saguaro fruit harvest, waking up with the sun and harvesting saguaro fruit using traditional kukuipad, long poles made of cactus ribs.

Harvesting on National Monument land is generally forbidden - this is a rare opportunity to do so with a Native American guide, Lorraine Eiler of the Tohono O’odham Nation. .On the first night of the weekend, she will give a campfire lecture about the cultural and historical importance of the saguaro harvest.

There will be two additional workshops offered by Tohono O’odham speakers. Saturday will include a workshop on medicianl teas made from plants of the Sonoran Desert. Sunday morning will feature a workshop on making cemait, a traditional Tohono O’odham frybread.

The total cost is $525 per person for a private room and $400 per person for a shared room. This all-inclusive price reflects hotel accommodations, 6 meals, lectures, tours, workshops, and harvest activities.

Space is limited so book your weekend package by calling (520) 373-0804 today!
